Year 3 OCTTC
For many years, the Pre-Uni New College Opportunity Class Trial Test Course (OCTTC) has been the preferred choice for students preparing for the Opportunity Class Placement Test. Our OC Trial Test Course (OCTTC) is designed to help Year 3 students build the skills, confidence, and test experience needed to succeed in the OC Placement Test. Through weekly full-length assessments, students develop exam strategies, improve time management, and reduce errors under timed conditions. The course has been updated to reflect recent changes in question types, ensuring students are fully prepared for the evolving test format. Regular practice not only sharpens academic ability but also helps students overcome exam anxiety and perform at their best on test day.
The Opportunity Class Placement Test comprises of 3 test sections.

Exam Preparation and Performance Optimization
The OC Trial Test Course (OCTTC) provides committed students with realistic exam preparation using simulated test questions that closely mirror the actual OC Placement Test format. Delivered through an intuitive Computer-Based Test (CBT) system, students refine their exam strategies, improve accuracy, and build confidence in a high-pressure environment. Each test is followed by a detailed performance report, enabling students, parents, and teachers to collaboratively review results, identify strengths and target areas for improvement. This structured approach supports optimal exam performance and ensures students are fully prepared for success.

Year 3 OCTTC Program
In-Class Combuter Based Test
Students attending the OC Trial Test Course complete weekly computerised exams under real exam conditions, carefully designed to simulate the actual OC Placement Test experience. Each week, students alternate between Reading and Mathematical Reasoning & Thinking Skills exams, with each test timed to match the real exam duration. Punctual attendance is essential, as students arriving late will not be granted additional time, in accordance with NSW Department of Education testing policies.
Exam Review
Following each test session, students engage in an in-depth review of their performance led by experienced subject matter experts. Teachers can share their screens across all student devices, creating an interactive and immersive learning environment. The review includes analysis of class-wide performance trends and individual answer selections, allowing for personalised feedback that addresses each student's learning needs.
Analytical Reporting
After completing the exams, students and parents receive a detailed performance report that provides valuable insights into the student's results in comparison to their peers. These reports highlight key strengths and areas for improvement and can be used as a foundation for one-on-one consultations with teachers. During these consultations, subject matter experts offer tailored strategies to help students improve and prepare effectively for future exams.
Self-Guided Skills Development
To reinforce their learning, students are given access to Cyberschool — an online platform that provides additional learning resources across core areas including Mathematical Reasoning, Thinking Skills, and Reading. These resources support independent study, and students are encouraged to work alongside their parents to stay motivated and focused. This structured yet flexible approach not only builds exam skills but also helps students develop the study habits needed to succeed among high-performing peers.
Year 3 OCTTC Cyberschool
As part of the Year 3 OCTTC course, each student will receive access to Cyberschool, a personalised online learning portal. Cyberschool offers a range of supplementary resources—including practice questions, quizzes, and revision materials—that students can use at home to reinforce and extend their classroom learning.
OCTTC Workbook: Targeted Practice and Classroom Learning
During Reading test weeks, students receive a comprehensive Answer Workbook in class. This workbook includes a vocabulary list, a variety of practice questions across text types, and exercises such as jumbled paragraphs. Model answers for this material are provided at the start of the week and can be downloaded from the ‘Material’ section on Cyberschool.
OCTTC Challenge Plus
After completing the Review Challenge, students move on to the OCTTC Challenge Plus for additional practice. In Mathematical Reasoning and Thinking Skills, students are given five extra high-difficulty questions to push their analytical thinking further. In Reading, students receive a complete 1+1 practice set to deepen their comprehension skills. This extension work helps students stretch their abilities and prepares them to perform at their peak in the OC Placement Test.
Vocabulary Practice Test
At the end of each odd-numbered week, students receive an English workbook with structured writing guides and vocabulary exercises designed to build their written expression. Selected vocabulary words are tested online as part of their weekly homework, helping students reinforce vocabulary knowledge and apply it effectively in writing.
OCTTC Review Challenge
To promote long-term retention and skill development, students participate in the OCTTC Review Challenge. Instead of simply revisiting all past material, students are retested specifically on questions they previously answered incorrectly. Using our Smart Review System, teachers deliver targeted support, and students receive a Retest Challenge comprising up to 15 questions, broken down into sets of five. This personalised approach ensures that learning is reinforced effectively and efficiently.
