Year 4 WEMT

The Year 4 WEMT course offers a refreshed and rigorous curriculum designed to build academic excellence and prepare students for the 2025 Opportunity Class placement test. With a strong emphasis on Writing, English, Mathematics, and Thinking Skills, the program promotes deep learning, critical thinking, and confident problem-solving through structured weekly engagement.

Writing

The writing module focuses on developing structured and coherent writing, while fostering critical thinking and logical reasoning. Students learn to organize their ideas effectively and communicate them with clarity and purpose.

English

English lessons focus on improving reading comprehension, vocabulary, and language conventions. Interactive discussions with teachers help students strengthen their analytical reading skills and build confidence in interpreting complex texts.

Mathematics

This module provides essential instruction in core mathematical principles, theories, and formulas. Students engage with a wide range of practical problems to build a solid foundation in arithmetic, geometry, and logical reasoning.

Thinking Skills

The Thinking Skills component challenges students with advanced critical thinking and problem-solving tasks. Through exposure to complex scenarios, they learn to analyze information, identify patterns, and make sound judgments—skills vital for the OC placement test.

Year 4 WEMT Program

Lesson

Each week, students attend theory lessons that introduce new concepts and build foundational skills. Teachers use lectures, multimedia, and discussions to engage students, encouraging active participation and note-taking.

Weekly Homework & S.O.Q

After class, students complete homework and the Special Online Quiz (S.O.Q) to reinforce learning. Tasks may include reading, writing, and problem-solving. Reviewing and memorising key content is essential for retention.

Watch V.O.D

Students access Video On Demand (VOD) to review lessons at their own pace. They can pause, rewind, and revisit content to clarify concepts and strengthen understanding.

Term Test

At the end of each term, students sit a comprehensive test covering all topics taught. It assesses progress, highlights strengths, and identifies areas for improvement.

Term Test Review

Students review test results to understand errors and reinforce learning. With teacher support, they work through challenging questions and prepare confidently for the next term.

Year 4 WEMT Cyberschool

As part of the Year 4 WEMT course, each student will receive access to Cyberschool, a personalised online learning portal. Cyberschool offers a range of supplementary resources—including practice questions, quizzes, and revision materials—that students can use at home to reinforce and extend their classroom learning.

Module Answers (Weekly)

Weekly module answers are uploaded every Saturday and remain available until the end of the next school holiday. Access them via the ‘Material’ menu after attempting the questions yourself. Students also submit their books for complimentary marking at our Bankstown branch.

Vocabulary Test (Weekly)

Weekly vocabulary tests are available under ‘My Test’ > ‘Online Test’ > ‘Vocabulary Test’. These quizzes enhance communication and literacy skills, critical for success in reading and writing.

S-Maths Homework (Weekly)

Supplementary Maths (S-Maths) provides additional at-home practice aligned with weekly WEMT modules. Complete by the end of the school holidays.

Live Zoom Lessons (Tue/Wed/Thu)

Additional live Zoom sessions run weekly until Week 10. Registration opens every Saturday and must be completed by Tuesday. Access the link under

WEMT Homework (Weekly)

Each week, WEMT students complete targeted homework to reinforce key skills in mathematical reasoning, thinking, reading comprehension, and novel study. These tasks help consolidate learning, strengthen problem-solving abilities, and prepare students for upcoming assessments through consistent practice.

English Extension Homework (Weekly)

From Weeks 2 to 10, Year 4 WEMT students complete English Extension tests as part of their weekly homework. These tests are released every Saturday and remain accessible until the end of the term, offering extended practice to sharpen comprehension and analytical skills.

Reading 310 (during the term)

Reading 310 is a self-paced online course designed to strengthen students’ reading and inference skills. Each test features a variety of question types, including short passages, true/false, and gapped texts. Students can attempt up to 10 tests per term, accessed via the ‘My Test’ menu. This program offers valuable practice with challenging questions and key reading strategies. NSW students enrolled in our regular term course can access Reading 310 for free until the next term begins.

Term Test (Week 8)

Held in Week 8, the term test evaluates students on all covered topics. Parents receive a detailed report including scores, rankings, and achievement levels at the end of term.

GA Practice for Scholarship Test

This module prepares students for AAS, ACER, and Edutest private school scholarship exams. Covering verbal and non-verbal reasoning, it includes a wide range of question types. NSW students enrolled in the term course can access this program free until the next term begins.

Video Lessons (Weekly)

Each question in the main textbook is explained through audio-guided video lessons. These can be accessed under the ‘Video Lesson’ menu and are available for three weeks from each Saturday—perfect for reviewing recent topics and reinforcing understanding.

Novel Study Homework (Weekly)

In the Year 4 Standard WEMT course, Novel Study invites students to read and explore classic literature to deepen their understanding of literary techniques, themes, and historical context. Available until Week 8, this component sharpens critical thinking and analysis skills while enriching writing and comprehension through exposure to diverse writing styles.

S.O.Q – Special Online Quiz (Fortnightly)

The S.O.Q quizzes assess comprehension of recent English, Maths, and Thinking Skills modules. Four sets are released in Weeks 2, 4, 6, and 8—each with 10 questions per subject. Quizzes stay open until the end of term.

Term Test Review (1st Week of Holidays)

Students can revisit incorrect Maths and Thinking Skills questions from the term test during the first week of the holidays. This step reinforces understanding and prepares students for the next term.
